What did I do for the last 30 years??? After graduation I moved to Grand Forks, ND to attend Univ of North Dakota. Between ROTC scholorship, teaching ice skating for parks and rec., and playing guitar in a rock band I didn't spend much time in school, (I also spent a lot of time living in the girls dorm at Concordia - sneeking past Dorthy Vanderpan who was resident assistant), but I did graduate in 1984 with a B.S. in Aviation and Business Administration. (Our band played at the 1981 Brookings Summer Arts festival in Pioneer Park).

In June of 1984, I went to military flight school at FT. Rucker, Alabama. I graduated #1 in my class and was transferred to Germany. The Army was kind enough to let me play hockey in the German league, so I played semi-pro hockey for 3 years while serving our country. I attended a briefing for General Colin Powell in 1986 where I presented a solution to rescue the hostages in Beirut, Lebannon. We circumvented the peace treaty with Cypress by "manufacturing" military hardware on-site rather than "shipping" supplies to stage an invasion of a neighboring country. We then sent helicopters in the middle of the night and brought everyone out of the U.S. embassy. Me and the guys behind the covert operation were the Time picture of the week in November 1987. David Jacobssen was reported by the media as part of the Iran-contra scandle and blamed on Oliver North but that was mostly mis-information to the public to hide what we did.

In 1990 I left the military and moved to Florida. I attended school and flew for Arnold Palmer Golf Course design until I opened my own airplane bussiness in 1992. I had 3 airplanes and worked mostly with the students and business community of Daytona Beach, but got tired of the endless "spring break" and moved to El Paso, TX at the end of 1996.

I flew cargo and air ambulance from 1996 - 1998 when I moved to Dallas to fly cargo in Falcon jets. In 2001 I was hired by Vanguard airlines to fly MD-80s in passenger service out of Kansas City, MO, but everyone was furloughed after 9/11 so I returned to El Paso and was rehired at ATI Jet as Chief Pilot.

Currently, I have an Airline Transport license with 11,000 hours of flight time, and am rated in helicopters, jets and twin engine piston aircraft. I fly for the owners of the Montreal Canadiens (hockey team), Sacramento Kings (basketball team) and Richard Petty racing (NASCAR), and provide executive passenger service in my spare time.

I still play hockey 3 nights a week, hunt and fish when I have the time and keep my youthful good looks on a diet of wild game, fresh garden vegetables and a shortage of alcohol.

School Story:

Before I moved to Brookings, I was always getting into trouble. I was expelled from school 3 times before 2nd grade. When I started school here it was play the game or go to military boarding school ... in Alaska. In 8th grade, John Worman and I were exploring the old city power plant (or was it Tim Flatten?). Anyhow, it was dark and we didn't have flashlights so we used matches. We found ourselves in the coal room ... a match got dropped ... it took us 10 minutes to put the fire out. After that I was low key ... except for the grass fire at what is now Larson Park on 22nd ave .... On the morning of senior breakfast, I talked Jeff Sanders and John Worman into taking paint and painting all the intersections in town with Class of '79 ... except we couldn't get Jeff to wake up at 3am. John and I did it all by ourselves until we got to the BHS loading dock. By then cops were everywhere, John left and I took the heat. Cops decided to let me go at 5:30am so the I could get ready for Senior breakfast and not wake my parents.
